Like a lot of families, Todd and Cooper Koch were at a loss for how to entertain their 12-year-olds during the pandemic when they were not being homeschooled. The adopted kids were getting a bit stir crazy, and everyone was eager to get out of the house, hit the road, and see the country.

Tyler and Todd Gibbon-Thorne had it all. The young married couple, who met and fell in love right before entering college, had great jobs and lived in a four-bedroom house in Alberta, Canada, where they were accepted and supported by their friends and family for who they are. In 2019, they ditched it all to hit the road in a 1996 Recreational Vehicle that they purchased for $7,000.
