Camp Potatoes

Ingredients and Directions


  • 4 large baking potatoes
  • 3 onions
  • 1 package of artificial butter flavoring
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Make a foil bag (I double the foil) or buy the ready-made foil bags. Cut potatoes into 2-inch cubes and place in foil bag. Peel and quarter onions and add to the bag. Mix one envelope of butter flavoring with one cup of hot water. Pour butter flavoring over the potatoes and onions, and seal bag shut by folding several times. Gently roll bag to coat the veggies. Place on low-flame grill or place on a cookie sheet...gently turn bag over about 15 minutes into the cooking time. These take only 30 minutes. I always serve these with chicken that I pre-freeze in Italian dressing. While camping, the chicken thaws and marinates at the same time. My kids eat this dinner and never complain.
