Skillet Cranapple Brie Grilled Cheese

Take that childhood classic to the next level! Who needs white bread and American cheese when brie plays off so well with tart green apples and sweetened cranberries?

Brie is a delightful soft cheese that can confuse people. No, you do not need to pull off or cut off the white edges – leave them on there, you will be surprised.

Instructions

You'll Need

  • Whole grain artisan bread, 2 slices per sandwich
  • Salad dressing like Miracle Whip, or your favorite mayonnaise
  • Whole berry cranberry sauce
  • Green apple slices – we prefer Granny Smith
  • Brie, sliced

To Prepare

Heat the skillet over medium heat.

Spread the cranberry sauce on one piece of bread, then layer on brie slices so they are just covering the bread. Top that with a layer of apple slices.

Top with another piece of bread.

Spread a thin layer of Miracle Whip or mayo on the top piece of the bread – the outside of the sandwich.

Place the sandwich, spread side down, into the hot skillet and cook until lightly browned.

Before flipping the sandwich spread salad dressing or mayo on the other piece of bread, then cook that side until it is also lightly browned.

Removed from pan to cut and serve. These are best when they are still hot!
