8 Best Pet-Friendly RV Destinations

When you’re planning to hit the road for an RV vacation, finding a pet-friendly campground is essential. With amenities like on-site dog parks, bathing stations, agility equipment, and even individually fenced campsites, these eight RV parks are the “ultimutt” destinations for canine campers.

Waggin’ Tail Ranch RV Resort

Pilot Point, TX

It’s hard to imagine a better vacation with Fido than a camping trip to Waggin’ Tail Ranch RV Resort, just north of Dallas. Each RV site is fully fenced, so your four-legged family member can relax by your side leash-free while you gather around the picnic table for breakfast or spend an evening stargazing. With two size-specific fenced dog parks, pups can play with other furry campers on their own level and show off their talents on agility equipment, then make a splash in the dog pond. You’ll be able to clean up at the grooming area before enjoying dinner with your pooch and his new friends at the community pavilion. After dinner, kick back at the covered “paws and swing” area, or let Fido join you for a game of cornhole, washers, or Connect Four.

Located in North Texas Horse Country, Pilot Point is the “pawfect” place to escape and unwind. Pay a visit to nearby Ray Roberts Lake State Park Isle du Bois to explore over 20 miles of pet-friendly hiking trails, geocache, or cast a line with your furry angler.

Friendly dogs of any size are encouraged at Waggin’ Tail Ranch RV Resort for no additional fee.

Four Paws Kingdom Campground

Rutherfordton, NC

If the name alone isn’t enough to spark his interest, the list of dog amenities at Four Paws Kingdom Campground is sure to make Fido raise his ears and tilt his head. The campground is dedicated solely to canines and their adult humans (two-legged guests must be 18 years or older). When your pooch is ready to play, he can pick from the Small Dog Playground, Tiny Tot Park, The Big Yard, or Private Escape. Dogs will also love splashing in the fully fenced pond, hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, racing on the agility course, or having a spa day in the self-service grooming salon. Some sites even have fenced yards, allowing you to rest with Fido at your campsite.

This drool-worthy spot is less than an hour from Asheville, NC, one of the most pet-friendly cities in the U.S., and the famous Blue Ridge Parkway, so you and your pup will have endless opportunities for adventure together.

Four Paws Kingdom Campground welcomes up to four dogs at each site, depending on their size, for no additional fee. Bring your own RV or stay in one of Four Paws’ rental RVs, cabins, or yurts. Additional pups are welcome for a fee of $4 per dog, per night.

Camp Margaritaville

Auburndale, FL

Waste away with Fido at Camp Margaritaville in central Florida. This tropical-themed paradise offers loads of fun for canine campers. RV sites include artificial turf grass for pup paws and patios for sunbathing. Your pooch will be happy to find four Barkaritaville dog parks, bone-shaped benches for humans, water fountains, and an agility course. Swing by the Cabana Club Market to purchase pet supplies or put a quarter in the gumball machine and fill a cup with yummy dog treats. At the end of the day, you can clean up your canine at one of the two Barkaritaville Pet Spas, self-serve dog washing stations with all the essentials. Then after dark, gather around the community fire pit, listen to live music, and grab something to eat from the food truck.

When your pup is ready to explore the area outside of camp, head to nearby Bonnet Springs Park in Lakeland and stroll along beautiful trails and elevated boardwalks through a natural oasis.

Three pets of any size are permitted at Camp Margaritaville RV sites for no additional fee.

Fox Hill RV Park and Campground

Baraboo, WI

With three enclosed dog parks, Fox Hill RV Park and Campground already sounds like one of the most pet-friendly campgrounds in the country, but this Wisconsin Dells getaway goes above and beyond. Once he’s made his rounds at the dog parks, take Fido to explore three miles of nature trails on the property or go for a hike together at nearby Devil’s Lake State Park. Afterward, your pup can cool off with a dip in the campground’s dog pond. When hunger strikes, he can join you for an afternoon treat at The Fox Den snack bar. After all that fun, clean your canine in one of two dog wash stations, then relax in one of the many hammocks scattered throughout the campground, or catch a movie on the big screen by the community campfire.

If you want to see more of this beautiful area of Wisconsin, make time for a pet-friendly cruise with Dells Boat Tours or bring Fido along for a horse-drawn carriage ride with Lost Canyon Tours

Pets of any size are welcome at Fox Hill RV Park and Campground for no additional fee.

Lake George RV Park

Lake George, NY

Lake George RV Park welcomes furry visitors and their human companions for a getaway filled with adventure or relaxation. While the park features amenities like indoor and outdoor heated pools, a water park, and pickleball courts for humans, the 2-acre fenced Charlie’s Dog Park will have your pup’s tail wagging. Divided into small and large dog sections, the area includes a synthetic turf play area, a fire hydrant spray fountain, shaded walking trails and a large agility course. Within the dog park, there are also restrooms, benches, waste stations, dog water fountains and even a treat vending machine where you can purchase snacks, bones, and toys. Allow time at the end of the day for a bath and groom at the indoor dog wash station before you head back to your RV or join other campers around the community bonfire.

If you want to see more of Lake George, take a one-hour historic sightseeing cruise with Lake George Waterfront Cruises, or let Fido get his paws wet at Lake George Dog Beach.

Four-legged guests are welcome at Lake George RV Park for no additional fee. Six pets are allowed if you bring your own RV, and two pets are welcome if you rent one of the park’s pet-friendly RVs.

Andersen’s Oceanside RV Park & Cottages

Long Beach, WA

Camp at Andersen’s Oceanside RV Park & Cottages in Long Beach, WA, and you’ll not only be doing Fido a favor, but you’ll also be helping pets at the local no-kill animal shelter through the park’s “Dollars for Doggies” pet fee. Of course, your own pup will love receiving treats upon arrival, and he’ll have a ball in the large, off-leash dog park. Fido is also permitted on miles of pet-friendly trails around the campground, including the nearby Discovery Trail, first blazed by Lewis and Clark, and he can play in the sand and surf of Long Beach. After a busy day, get your pooch cleaned up in the hot outdoor shower before relaxing to sunset views over the Pacific Ocean. The RV park just asks that “dogs have owners leashed” when not in the dog park.

Venture two miles down the coast for a round of golf with Fido at Peninsula Golf Course. While you’re there, grab lunch on the patio of the onsite Cove Restaurant and order your pup something from the "Doggietizer" dog menu.

Three dogs of any size are permitted at Andersen’s Oceanside RV Park & Cottages for an additional fee of $5 per dog, per stay.

Normandy Farms

Foxboro, MA

Experience the beauty of New England at Normandy Farms Campground, a luxury camping experience created for humans and dogs alike. Fido will have a ball in the 1.5-acre Freedom Tail Park, a fully fenced area with agility equipment, dog wash, and drinking fountains. There’s even a separate area for smaller pups to play safely. When it’s time for the kids to splash in the pool, turn tricks in the bike park or, if you’re planning a family round of disc golf, drop your pooch off at the park’s Canine Coops. Here, he can rest up in a safe, enclosed custom kennel which includes a roof, doghouse and water spigot. If he prefers human companionship, you can even make a reservation for a campground employee to take him for a walk.

With so many activities in the park, there’s no need to leave, but you may want to take your furry hiking buddy on some of the 23 miles of trails at neighboring F. Gilbert Hills State Forest.

Pets are permitted in your own RV for no additional fee at Normandy Farms Campground, and two pets of any size are allowed in select campground rentals for an additional fee. There are also additional fees for kennel and walking services.

Rover’s RV Park

Waldport, OR

The Oregon coast is lined with some of the best dog-friendly places and experiences, so it’s no surprise to find a campground aptly named Rovers RV Park in the town of Waldport. The campground was named to emphasize the outstanding service provided to canine guests. Dogs can explore off leash on two acres of wetlands, and small pups have their own fenced park to play in. Guests and their pets can fish or kayak from the dock, and Fido can doggy paddle in the river. The area sees mild temperatures and sunny skies year-round, a perfect environment for furry explorers, and the campground proudly boasts its beautiful sunsets which you can enjoy with your pooch from your campsite each night. Before you call it a day, gather around the community campfire to make new two- and four-legged friends.

For more water fun, visit nearby Agate Beach State Recreation Site, where your pooch can help dig for razor clams or play a game of fetch in the waves.

Rover’s RV Park offers long-term (30+ days) stays only. Dogs of any size are welcome for no additional fee.
