Location: On Top Of The World

Experience the best of both worlds: the comfort of the RV and the thrill of the climb.

The air in the Black Hills was crisp as we pulled our pop-up off the paved road and onto a dusty trail. Looking out the window at the towering pines and jagged granite formations, my partner couldn't help but grin. "Oh, look at this place," he breathed. "It is beautiful."

That’s the beauty of the road; your backyard changes every day, but your home stays the same. We pulled into our spot, and before the dust had even settled, we were ready to transition from travel mode to basecamp. "Let’s do this," he said, popping the latch as we lifted the roof together, the A-frame silhouette quickly mirroring the peaks around us.

After a quick warm-up on the lower boulders, we found our target—a sheer face bathed in golden light. Standing at the base, looking up at the summit we’d soon reach, I felt that familiar rush. "This is what I live for," I said.

By the time we rappelled down, the sun had dipped below the treeline. We headed back to the glow of the camper, the internal lights welcoming us back. "Home sweet home," I laughed, switching on my headlamp. "So excited to eat! What’s for dinner?"

"I thought you were making dinner!" he joked.

It didn't matter who was cooking; we had a kitchen, a bed, and the best view in the world. As we sat outside under a canopy of stars, we weren't just camping—we were living.
