6 Things We Love About RVing: Eric & Meghan’s Story

Discover how Eric and Meghan transformed their family’s lifestyle with a seasonal RV site.

Eric and Meghan, RV owners from New England, share how owning an RV and setting up at a seasonal campsite with their two young children has transformed their lifestyle. Once a simple getaway, it has evolved into a pillar of their family life, providing a balance to the demands of work, school, and everyday routines.

Here are the six reasons Eric and Meghan love their RV lifestyle:

1. They Love Having a Seasonal Site Close to Home

Before getting an RV, the family spent most of their time indoors. The RV shifted their lifestyle toward outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and relaxing together.

Smaller than a traditional home, the RV requires far less cleaning and upkeep, freeing the couple from routine chores so they can enjoy genuine downtime. It also serves as an affordable basecamp in nature, making frequent weekend getaways and flexible travel much easier and more budget-friendly.

2. Peaceful Morning Routines

One of the couple's favorite personal perks is waking up early before the kids to enjoy the quiet surroundings. Whether it's going for a morning run on nearby trails or blending fresh smoothies in their spacious RV kitchen, the peaceful start to the day sets a relaxing tone for the whole family.

3. They Love Pursuing Outdoor Hobbies

Having outdoor amenities located so close to the seasonal site allows the entire family to go biking, hiking, swimming, and kayaking and enjoy the peaceful scenery.

4. Ability to Work Remotely in Nature

With reliable Wi-Fi and a simple portable monitor setup, Eric can work remotely right from the campsite on Mondays or Fridays. Working outdoors offers a refreshing change from a standard corporate office environment and allows the family to extend their weekend trips without missing work days.

5. Instilling a Love of Nature and Independence in Their Kids

The RV lifestyle allows their children to connect with nature through activities like fishing, biking, painting rocks, and exploring outdoors.  The campground provides a safe, close-knit community where the kids can safely gain independence—scooting to the playground or camp store on their own—creating lasting childhood memories without the stress of city traffic.

6. They Love Family Campfires and S’mores

At the end of the day, gathering around the campfire is one of Eric and Meghan’s favorite RV traditions. After the kids enjoy making s'mores and head inside to fall asleep in their bunk beds, the RV site transitions into a quiet space where the couple can sit outside, listen to the crickets, and enjoy spending time around the campfire while remaining right outside their children's room.
