Recipe for a Foil Packet Meal at the Campground

Follow these step-by-step instructions to create a delicious foil-wrapped meal at the campground!

Ingredients (per foil packet):

  • 2 large pieces of heavy-duty aluminum foil
  • 1 cup cubed ham (ask the deli to cut a 1" thick slab and cube it)
  • ½ cup Alfredo sauce
  • ½ cup niblet corn (canned or fresh)
  • ½ cup sliced potatoes (thinly sliced)

Instructions:

  1. Double wrap two sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil, layering them together flat on your prep surface.
  2. Assemble your packet:
    • Place cubed ham in the center of the foil.
    • Spoon Alfredo sauce over the ham.
    • Add niblet corn and sliced potatoes.
  3. Fold the packet:
    • Fold the foil over the filling, leaving a little air space inside.
    • Fold the seam over twice to seal.
    • Fold in and roll the ends twice to secure.
  4. Cooking:
    • Place the packet on a preheated campfire grill or charcoal grill.
    • Important: If using a campfire, don’t put it directly on the flames or hottest coals. Push coals to the side, lay the packet on the ground, and pack coals around it.
    • Cook until you hear sizzling and smell deliciousness—about 15–20 minutes.
  5. Serve with caution! Carefully open the packet (watch for steam!) and dig into your hot, bubbly, personal campfire meal.

PRO TIP: These are perfect for customizing—try swapping in chicken, adding broccoli, or using pesto instead of Alfredo.
