Why We Travel More Now With Less Stress

Discover how a switch to RV travel gave one family the ultimate freedom to explore on their own terms.

“Did you find anything yet? “

“Yeah… but the dates are already gone.”

Sound familiar?

Planning a hotel trip used to feel more tiring than the trip itself. From hunting down family-friendly spots and comparing prices to aligning calendars and mapping out activities, the initial excitement quickly faded. After weeks of endless searching, list-making, and packing, everyone was usually in a bad mood before we even backed out of the driveway. Worn out by the logistics instead of looking forward to our time away, frustration crept in. As a result, we could only manage one or two hotel trips a year.

I kept wondering if there was an easier way to travel—a way to actually enjoy the journey. Not willing to give up on exploring, I looked for a solution. Now, I'm glad to say we found one. That realization pushed us to look for a better way, and that's exactly when RV travel caught our attention.

Delivery of our RV

Why We Chose RV Travel

We didn’t want luxury; we just wanted an easier way to travel. When a friend suggested, "Why not an RV?" we decided to look into it.

With a big family, we needed enough space, even for a short trip. As we compared different RVs, we started thinking about what really mattered most for us: sleeping space for everyone, a basic kitchen for easy meals, and staying within our budget. We realized we didn’t need every comfort from home, just smart storage and a layout that let everyone relax comfortably. After months of looking at different RVs, we finally found our 36-foot travel trailer. I was more excited for delivery day than I expected.

I began stocking it right away. I packed extra pots and pans, a coffee maker, and even trip-only clothes. Everything had its place in neatly organized plastic bins. In just a week, the setup was complete. Because the RV stayed loaded, planning the trip no longer meant worrying about endless packing lists. Our travel trailer had made the process simple.

With everything packed, we felt ready—finally able to focus on enjoying our new way of traveling.

The First Trip

Because we were RV novices, we decided to keep things simple. We booked a state park less than an hour away. Reserving a spot online was surprisingly easy and affordable. Packing was effortless: we filled the fridge, stocked the cabinets, and hung a few clothes.

Within no time, we quickly hit the road, excited for a new adventure. Mistakes happened (next time, no loose gallons of milk in the fridge). But nothing matched the freedom of RV travel, and we were hooked.

What RV Travel Gave Us

Getting on the road stress-free brought the joy back into our lives. Booking a site proved to be easier than finding a hotel or an Airbnb. Campgrounds were a bargain, often only $40–$60 a night, whereas hotels or vacation rentals for our family could easily cost triple that. Cooking our own meals not only saved money but also freed us from scheduling around restaurant wait times.

We spent less time planning structured activities because the campgrounds provided built-in fun like swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Biking, campfires, and late-night talks filled our days. Instead of staring at screens, we made memories. Our own pillows, a familiar bed, and a trusty coffee maker added comfort to every trip.

What Travel Looks Like Now

Travel is much simpler now. We get up and go; no need to wait months or plan endlessly. If a weekend opens up, we grab a quick load of groceries, pack a few clothes, and we're on the road. Whether it’s an hour’s drive or hours away, we welcome the journey. The RV has brought spontaneity back into our lives. Take it from us: travel doesn’t have to feel like an Olympic sport. When you start traveling with an RV, you gain the freedom to create the adventures you want and make memories at your own pace. Our RV didn't just change how we travel; it brought back the joy of the trip, entirely minus the stress.
