An Overview
Campgrounds across the country are preparing many activities for the July 4th weekend, including patriotic craft activities and parades, talent shows, pool parties, barbecues, and fireworks displays.
Some parks even have watermelon and pie-eating contests and magic shows, while others have rocket launching activities and patriotic campsite decorating contests.
Campground Recommendations
Here’s a sampling of some of the fun activities being planned for the 4th of July weekend at campgrounds and RV resorts across the country:
Alabama
- Great Escapes RV Resort in Leesburg: This park celebrates Independence Day with “Paws & Stripes,” a patriotic event filled with fun, music, and a special salute to our country and furry friends. Guests can start the day with a patriotic parade where they can dress up their pets in their finest red, white, and blue attire, and march through the park in a fun-filled procession.
Other events include “Pup’s Got Talent,” a talent show for pets, a “Bark and Stripes Obstacle Course,” and a “Stars and Stripes Scavenger Hunt” for the whole family. There will also be a Pet Wellness Station, offering tips for keeping our furry friends safe and happy during the summer months.
The highlight of the day is the Sundance Head Performance, bringing his amazing country music talent to the stage! Get ready to sing along to classic tunes and enjoy an evening of heartwarming live music under the stars. There will also be a patriotic picnic with all your favorite barbecue foods, ice cream, festive treats, and a fireworks show that lights up the sky in a spectacular celebration of freedom and family.
California
- Campland on the Bay in San Diego: The July 4th holiday weekend is action-packed at this park. Campers can explore the shores of Mission Bay by kayak, pedal boat, or pontoon boat. Other rentals include ski boats, SUP’s and wave runners. Planned activities include pickleball, yoga, dodgeball, and a bean bag tournament. Kids can slide down a 40-foot giant inflatable slide on the beach. Live music is also planned, including Headbangers Ball, playing ‘80s rock, on July 3; Barbwire, playing country music, on July 4; and OCD, featuring fun dance music, on July 5. Campers also gather for SeaWorld’s huge fireworks display, which can be seen across the bay on July 4.
- Launch Pointe Recreation & RV Park in Lake Elsinore: This park will celebrate July 4th with waterslides, entertainment, and a lakeside view of the local fireworks show.
- Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina in Newport Beach: This resort features its annual Tunes at the Dunes over the July 4th weekend local bands, food trucks, and a full bar. The band lineup includes DBS, a tribute to Journey, on July 3; The Class on July 4; and Cubensis, a tribute to the Grateful Dead, on July 5. Planned festivities for RV resort and cottage guests include arts and crafts, cornhole and volleyball tournaments, and huge bike parade following a bike decorating party. A huge fireworks display will take place over the bay on July 4.
- San Diego Metro KOA Resort in Chula Vista: For the 4th of July, they’re planning tie dye activities, live music, family sports competitions, outdoor movies and more.
- Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay KOA Holiday in Watsonville: July 4th weekend activities include bike decorating and a bike parade, a pool party, a foam party, and a special dinner with pulled chicken and pulled pork.
Colorado
- Colorado Springs KOA Holiday in Fountain: This campground celebrates the 4th of July with exciting activities throughout the weekend. These include a flag crafting station and a red, white, and blue parade in which guests are encouraged to dress up their pets. There will also be a patriotic talent show, an American sports tournament, a delicious barbecue and picnic feast, patriotic face painting, an outdoor movie, and a fireworks extravaganza.
Georgia
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Bremen: This park kicks off the Independence Day festivities by inviting guests to decorate their bicycles and golf carts and show them off in the patriotic parade. There will also be patriotic crafts, Hey Hey Rides, Wet n'’ Wild Wagon Rides, foam parties, and an epic block party. As the sun sets, the excitement continues with a glow ride, a glow pool party, and a movie under the stars. A fireworks show is planned for Friday evening at the park.
Illinois
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Pittsfield: This park celebrates Independence Day with fireworks as well as a variety of competitive games, including a piece eating contest, a greased watermelon pool release, a Slin-n-Slide, a DJ dance party, a dive-in movie, a Karaoke party, three-legged races, and a cornhole tournament.
- Lena KOA Holiday in Lena: This campground has a jam-packed schedule for July 4th. Activities include live music and rocket launching.
Indiana
- Angola/Hogback Lake KOA Holiday in Angola: This park celebrates July 4th with crafts, wagon rides, cornhole tournaments, a poker run, and fireworks.
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Pierceton: Independence Day weekend activities at this park include an arts and crafts show, ceramics, a parade, live music and fireworks.
Kentucky
- Diamond Lake Resort in Owensboro: This park will have a fireworks display on Saturday, July 5th.
Louisiana
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Lake Charles: Guests can participate in a variety of Independence Day activities at this park, such as creating their own fireworks craft. Other activities include a watermelon-eating contest, a water gun fight, face tag, and a flag-raising ceremony to honor the holiday.
Maine
- Bangor/Holden KOA Holiday in Holden: This park will have a whole week of patriotic activities to celebrate Independence Day, including craft activities, family games and contests, sack races, tug-of-war, and a red, white, and blue campsite decorating contest. There will also be a patriotic parade, a potluck, live music, and entertainment.
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Androscoggin: This park will have a golf cart decorating contest and parade in which guests can show off their patriotic pride. Red, white and blue s’mores will also be available. Fireworks are scheduled for July 3rd with July 5th as backup date in case of rain.
Michigan
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Carsonville: Independence Day weekend festivities at this park include a flag-raising ceremony with Yogi Bear, a patriotic parade, crafts and a fireworks display on Saturday night.
Mississippi
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Pelahatchie: Independence Day weekend activities at this park include a patriotic parade, a patriotic pie-eating contest, American history trip, a patriotic picnic and a wet-and-wild wagon ride. There will also be fireworks by the beach and plenty of opportunities to interact with the bears.
Montana
- Lolo Hot Springs Resort in Lolo: This resort offers a July 4th fireworks show as well as live music. Resort amenities include hot springs, guided horseback rides, as well as a bar, restaurant, and casino.
New Jersey
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Williamstown: Independence Day activities at this park include a golf cart decorating contest and parade, and live entertainment. Red, white, and blue s’mores will also be available. This park’s annual fireworks show will take place on July 12th.
- Ocean View Resort Campground in Ocean View: July 4th weekend activities include crafts for kids, candy bingo, a bike parade, spin art, a magic show with Chad Juros, live music, dancing, and fireworks.
Ohio
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Big Prairie: July 4th weekend activities at this park include flag decorating, a golf cart parade, swimming, music and dancing. A dazzling fireworks show is also planned.
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Cleveland: Independence Day weekend activities at this park include a patriotic parade, a stars and a stripes poolside picnic party with live music. Guests can also create at the red, white, and blue craft station, where kids can make patriotic keepsakes and participate in a variety of competitive events, including tug-of-war and relay races. A bonfire and fireworks are also planned.
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in North Lawrence: Live entertainment will be provided at this campground over July 4th weekend along with a golf cart decorating contest and parade. The park’s annual fireworks show is set for July 5th.
South Carolina
- Big Water Marina & Campground in Starr: This campground has its Independence Day fireworks show on the lake on Saturday, June 28. The park will also have food trucks and vendors on site throughout the day.
Texas
- Great Escapes RV Resort in Perrin: Independence Day weekend activities at this park include a patriotic parade with Biscuit, a patriotic pie-eating contest, American History trivia, a wet wagon water ride, and a patriotic picnic social! Guests will also have plenty of opportunities to interact with the bears
West Virginia
- Kick Back N Camp in Belington: July 4th weekend activities at this park include a glow bike parade, a movie night, live music and fireworks on Saturday night.
Wisconsin
- Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Warrens: Activities planned for Independence Day weekend at this park include festive crafts, dodgeball and cornhole tournaments and lively pool parties. Guests can also show off their creativity with all things red, white, and blue by decorating their bikes and golf carts for the annual 4th of July Parade with Yogi Bear and participating in the Independence Day campsite decorating contest.
- Kinney Lake Campground in Marion: Independence Day weekend activities at this park include themed crafts and games as well as live music and a beautiful fireworks display.
- Lake Arrowhead Campground in Montello: Activities for the July 4th weekend at this park include a patriotic golf cart and bike parade, a patriotic tie-dye t-shirt activity, a 3-on-3 volleyball tournament, a lip synch battle, and a glow parade.
- O'Neil Creek Campground in Chippewa Falls: July 4th weekend activities include crafts, duck races, a decorate-your-wheels parade, volleyball, street dancing, and an outdoor movie. A fireworks show will take place on Saturday, July 5th.
- Pineland Camping Park in Big Flats: Independence Day weekend activities at this park include patriotic crafts and games, cornhole and washers tournaments, a glow parade, fireworks and Karaoke.
