One activity that is becoming more widely available in independently owned and operated campgrounds is laser tag.

Laser tag is a game in which players use toy guns to shoot infrared beams at sensors on other players’ vests to score points, while trying to avoid being tagged themselves. Many campgrounds have designed specific areas with obstacles, hay bales and other objects to hide behind for laser tag games. 

Keep in mind that laser tag is a popular paid activity so it’s worthwhile to reserve your game times as soon as you can. But chances are, with campgrounds offering so many amenities, from miniature golf to swimming pools with water slides, you’ll will have no trouble finding plenty of other fun campground activities to enjoy with family and friends while you await your next laser tag game.

Camp Cardinal RV Resort (Hayes, VA)

Camp Cardinal RV Resort: This campground offers laser tag equipment for children and adults alike. Other campground activities include gaga ball, a family water zone and fishing on the Severn River, a tributary to the Mobjack River and Chesapeake Bay, which is home to sea bass, spade fish, striped bass, and grouper.

Salt water fishing is also available at the park’s pier. A guide is also available for guests who would like to go crabbing. This campground also offers organized weekend activities for adults, including wine tastings and yoga classes.

Camp Fimfo (Waco, TX)

Camp Fimfo: This campground has a full laser tag course that includes obstacles and hay bales. Games last 15 minutes and require a minimum of two people and have a maximum of 10 people.

Other park amenities include a resort pool and water playground, miniature golf, pickleball and tennis courts, wiffle ball, horseshoes, bocce ball, corn hole, and foot billiards. Canoeing and kayaking are also available along with Camp Cruisers, which are miniature vehicles for children.

Jellystone Park at Barton Lake (Fremont, IN)

Jellystone Park at Barton Lake: This campground offers 30-minute laser games along with a host of other attractions, including swimming pools, waterslides, an interactive water playground, an 18-hole miniature golf course, pedal carts, gem mining, and various water equipment rentals for use on Barton Lake, including paddle boats, kayaks, paddle boards, and row boats. This campground also offers organized family activities and themed weekends with Yogi Bear.

Jellystone Park Camp-Resort (Lodi, CA)

Jellystone Park Camp-ResortAdvanced reservations are required for laser tag games at this park, which last 30 minutes. Other amenities include swimming pools; a water playground; gem mining; miniature golf; gagaball; and water equipment rentals, including standup paddle boards, kayaks and pontoon boats. This campground also offers organized family activities and themed weekends with Yogi Bear.

Little Mexico Campground (Winfield, PA)

Little Mexico Campground: Thirty-minute laser tag games are available at this campground. Other amenities include miniature golf, a jumping pillow and kayak rentals, including tandem kayaks. Organized family activities are also available on weekends.

Papoose Pond Family Campground (Waterford, ME)

Papoose Pond Family Campground: This campground complements its laser tag games with an 18-hole miniature golf course, gaga ball, gem mining, a volleyball court, a horseshoe pit and other games.

The park also has a large selection of canoes, kayaks, double kayaks, stand up paddleboards, and rowboats as well as a 1916 Herschell Little Beauty Traveling Carousel, which is available for guest use for one hour a day during the summer months. Organized family activities are also offered on weekends.

Shelby / Mansfield KOA (Shelby, OH)

Shelby / Mansfield KOA: This campground offers laser tag along with gaga ball, gem mining, miniature golf, a small zipline for young children and a KOA Fun Express Train. This campground also has a swimming pool and a catch-and-release fishing pond stocked with bluegill, bass and catfish. Organized family activities are also available on the weekends.

The Holly Campground (Holly, MI)

The Holly Campground: This campground complements its laser tag games with a BMX skatepark, which is perfect for roller skates, BMX bikes and skateboards. Other amenities include miniature golf, a swimming pool, a jumping pillow, tetherball and outdoor bowling. Summer arts and crafts classes are also available along with special weekend events, such as Christmas in July and pre-Halloween themed weekends.

Stoney Creek RV Resort (Osseo, WI)

Stoney Creek RV Resort: This campground offers laser tag during the summer months. However, Labor Day weekend is the last weekend of laser tag each season as the "Laser Tag Island" becomes the "Haunted Island" for the park’s Halloween-themed weekends. Other park amenities include miniature golf, a one-acre swimming pond with a floating water sportspark, and ATV trails. Organized activities and themed weekends also take place during the camping season.
