Is there anything better than watching the snow fall while you are snug and warm inside? Maybe the only thing better is if you are snug and warm inside your RV. Winter is here, but that’s no reason to hibernate. When else you can embrace activities such as skiing, ice skating, snow-shoeing, and any other snow-related activity.
Winter Travels, Winter Fun
Winter RVing is a magical experience. For one thing, there are no bugs. Camping in the quiet, ethereal snow is like no other camping experience. Consider the Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon for some prime winter camping. Have you tried skijoring? This apparently involves being towed on skis by your dog. Or Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan might actually be more fun in winter. Ice-climbing and ice-fishing in Lake Superior are not to be missed. Just be sure you and your RV are fully prepared for the winter weather.
With the holidays coming, our inner Christmas freak can finally start waving its flag. Luckily, we’re not alone. There are more Christmas destinations in the USA than you can shake a stick at. Head to Durango, Colorado for a chance to ride the Polar Express. Or take the RV to the National Christmas Center in Paradise, PA. It’s a 20,000 square foot museum just about Christmas. Or if you prefer something a little more modern and less conventional, escape to Newport Beach, CA to see the annual Christmas Boat Parade.
On the road for New Year’s? One in four Americans plan to travel for New Year’s, but where to go? How about New Orleans? Although it’s more famous for its Mardi Gras celebrations, New Orleans has an amazing First Night. Not enough of a party for you? Las Vegas, the ultimate party town, really ramps it up for New Year’s. You won’t forget it.
One thing’s for sure: winter is not a time to spend sitting around at home. Get out of your comfort zone and see what else is out there!
